About Kananga

y adventure with cynology began in 1978. It became my hobby and the great adventure soon. I was lucky to meet so wonderful breeders who answered all my inquiring questions with great kindness. They advised me how to be a good breeder, also to turn special attention to health, gene base, exterier and psyche not to destroy former breeders' work on the breed.

y first dog’s love was dalmatian bitch PAMELA z Siedmiu Wspanialych (FARAH). Following her kennel name "from splendid seventh", she was really splendid in every feature, though had also her own specific nature. Her mother - KRASKA z Chrustow became from a well-known Polish kennel, father - ZORRO z Asfaltowej was a son of famous CEDRIK of Index. Farah taught me the respect for the independence and primary dog’s instinct. Thus I fell in love with gun dogs and I still am. Our family started to grow. Farah accepted everybody with special feelings to my own human children. We lost her after 13 years. We felt emptiness, sorrow and regret. Children missed her the most, didn’t understand Farah had left forever and they wanted to have her back.

o we decided to take a new dog. We wanted to have a short-haired female in sport type. When we looked through a book of dogs' breed we were admired with a picture of a rhodesian mum with her pups. Those days there were no rhodesian dogs in Poland, so we started to search for breeders outside of Poland. We pointed our attention to Denmark - a country of high cynologic culture. Owing to our best friend - a judge and newfoundlands breeder, we managed to find the best kennel. It was very important as the first representative of Rhodesian Ridgback was to come to our country. We thank you for this, Alexandra!
Thus in 1994 we brought Torhusets CINNAMON NDEMBELA home - the first Rhodesian Ridgeback in Poland. Torhuset kennel and Denmark as a country started new "rhodesian chapter" in Polish cynology as well as in my life.

s a pup, Cinnamon was full of mischief, but very clever. While growing up she started to behave like a real lady. Then I concocted a saying describing everyday life with a rhodesian - teach him from himself. And this is true as a rhodesian can deliver a lot of information but you should only know how to read all these signs.

og shows gave us a lot of joy and satisfaction when Cinnamon was admired by judges and audience. She was presented for the first time in 1994 on International Dog Show in Poznan in puppy class, where she conquered her competition. A lot of people visiting the shows were surprised at a ridge on her back. Most of them couldn't believe it was natural, normal for this breed.  We used to sayings that she had to be very bad-natured as she was always bristled. Once we met a man on the show who looked at Cinnamon's back and asked if it was a stitch. Then he added indignantly: "Couldn't they put the dog a proper stitch?" and went away. But we still don't know whether he was joking or not.

ne day we decided that Cinnamon would became a mother. She proved to be an outstanding representative of the breed, so maybe she will also prove to be an outstanding dam as well. We searched through different countries and kennels and one day we found a beautifull "Viking" for her in Copenhagen. We made an X-ray to check her hips - to make sure she is healthy. In February 1997 she met her future "fiance". She became a mother for the first time in April 1997. She gave many outstanding Rhodesians, her children and grandchildren reach for highest titles on European rings. They are not only excellent in exterior, but also have an excellent character and what is the most important - they are healthy. All is due to carefully and well chosen sires as well.

s a cynologist, breeder and handler I’m glad that dogs from Kananga as well as Kananga ancestors in rhodesian pedigrees are admired. I'm also satisfied with the fact that Kananga joint with other rhodiesian lines gives typical dogs with super movement, beautiful heads, strong bones and excellent muscles. It's undoubtedly the power of genes.
Besides excellent Dutch lines like Torhusets & Tuasiva's our dogs have distinguished African representatives of MUSHANA, GLENAHOLM & JANAK in their pedigrees.

nd today, Cinnamon, the first registered in Poland, outstanding representative of Rhodesian breed is 11 years old. She is still in excellent condition & healthy owing to a suitable diet. I am a feeding technologist, so this matter is very important to me.
